Mattias Belting

Mattias Belting is professor of medical research and clinical oncology and senior consultant of oncology. He received his PhD in medicinal chemistry in 1999, followed by postdoc visits at UCSD & The Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla with a focus on the role of proteoglycans and the coagulation system in tumor development. He has published several papers with 1st or senior positions in top ranked journals within his field (Nature Med., PNAS, Blood, Cancer Res., J. Biol. Chem.). The impact of his group’s findings is reflected by several invitations to contribute review articles, and frequent invitations to present at national and international conferences. Further, some of the findings contributed to the initiation of an ongoing phase III clinical trial with cancer patients.
 
Mattias Belting has received several awards, including the Fernström Prize for young and successful scientists (2011), and receives competitive funding from The Swedish Research Council, the Swedish Cancer Society, among others.
